Bicycle Wheel 1913

On 1913 in Paris Marcel Duchamp decided to create one of his first “ready made” by assembling an old bicycle wheel on top of a kitchen stool. Duchamp himself said that indifference towards this mass-produced industrial objects guided him to picked them. But the Bicycle wheel had something special, that the other ready-mades did not have. The movement of the wheel produced him a retinal pleasure: “I enjoyed looking at it, just as I enjoy looking at the flames dancing in a fireplace.
